SPEC Custom Performance and Race Clutches and Flywheels

SPEC Clutch Kits are the leader in aftermarket performance clutch with 8 stages (Spec Stage1, Spec Stage2, Spec Stage2+, Spec Stage3, Spec Stage3+, Spec Stage4, Spec Stage5, Spec Stage5+). Spec Clutch has a stock pedal feel with clamping power that is suitable for every application. Spec Stage5 performance clutches have been tested behind manual transmission vehicles with more than 1000hp and for less modified daily driven clutches, check out the Spec stage 1-3. The clutch kits include a high clamp load, quick release pressure plate, corresponding stage disc, bearings and alignment tool.

Made from high carbon steel or specially treated aircraft aluminum for superior rotational integrity and warp resistance, the SPEC billet flywheels feature a hardened replaceable ring gear, high strength racing bolt kit and SFI certification. SPEC flywheels are manufactured to an industry leading .001 inch. The billet steel units provide desired momentum for street, drag and large turbo applications, but weigh less than stock for greater reliability and noticeable horsepower gains. The aluminum flywheels are lighter for better performance at road race/Time Attack and autocross events.

Stage 1: Types of Driving: Street, Drag, Drift, Road Race, Rallye, Pulling, Autocross. For bolt on naturally aspirated and mildly modified forced induction engines. Stock-like daily drivability and very good wear characteristics. High clamp pressure plate, steel-backed and multi-compound woven organic material and high torque sprung hub and disc assembly, bearing and tool kit.

Stage 2: Types of Driving: Street, Drag, Autocross. For all mild to moderately modified naturally aspirated and power adder engines. (Also good for stock power levels and spirited driving when good daily drivability and extremely long life are the goal.) Stock-like daily drivability and EXCELLENT wear characteristics. High clamp pressure plate, pure Kevlar friction material and high torque sprung hub and disc assembly, bearing and tool kit.

Stage 2+: Types of Driving: Street, Drag, Road Race, Rallye, Autocross. For all modified engines making more torque than the stage 2 can support. Maintains stage 2 feel for good daily drivability and offers very good wear characteristics, but provides a higher torque capacity. High clamp pressure plate, composite multi-friction carbon-kevlar material, high torque sprung hub and disc assembly, bearing and tool kit.

Stage 3: Types of Driving: Street, Drag, Drift, Road Race, Rallye, Autocross. For heavily modified street and race engines. Offers sufficient daily drivability with a comfortable pedal feel and quick engagement. Offers good wear characteristics under low and high stress usage. High clamp pressure plate, 4 or 6 puck carbon semi-metallic friction with high torque sprung hub and disc assembly, bearing and tool kit. 6 puck is standard on most applications, but 4 puck can be specified when ordering.

Stage 3+: Types of Driving: Street, Drag, Drift, Road Race. For heavily modified street and race engines making more torque than the st3 can support. Offers good daily drivability and better manageability than the stage 3, with even better wear characteristics. High clamp pressure plate, full-faced carbon metallic friction, high torque sprung hub and disc assembly, bearing and tool kit.

Stage 4: Types of Driving: Drag, Drift, Road Race, Rallye, Circle Track. For heavily modified engines or engines of any modification level being used in the above driving environments, where an instantaneous engagement and light weight are beneficial. Not street-friendly due to harsh engagement. High clamp pressure plate, 3,4 or 6 puck carbon semi-metallic friction with high torque rigid hub and carrier assembly, bearing and tool kit.

Stage 5: Types of Driving: Drag, Road Race, Extremely Modified Engines, needing Twin Plate Clutch up to 680tq. For extremely modified drag race and pulling engines, or applications that call for a ‘slipper’ clutch/progressive torque-induced engagement. These clutches are best ordered as custom configured and should be ordered after providing specific information about the car and it’s purpose. Not street-friendly due to harsh engagement. High clamp pressure plate, rigid iron disc assembly, bearing and tool kit.

Stage 5X: Types of Driving: Drag, Road Race, Extremely Modified Engines, needing Triple Plate Clutch up to 1000tq. For extremely modified drag race and pulling engines, or applications that call for a ‘slipper’ clutch/progressive torque-induced engagement. These clutches are best ordered as custom configured and should be ordered after providing specific information about the car and it’s purpose. Not street-friendly due to harsh engagement. Exedy Clutch WRX / STi

Exedy racing and performance clutches are designed, engineered and built as racing clutches. Exedy pressure plates are newly constructed from ductile ( nodular) iron for your increases safety in harsh performance environments. SINGLE PLATE
All of the Exedy clutch discs have high capacity spring center dampers tuned to appropriate high torque ratings. These dampers reduce the drive train shock and impact. Exedy cerametallic clutches are designed to handle the abuse of high power modified engines. Exedy Racing clutches with Organic friction materials use only premium friction materials that are resistant to slippage and burst.
ORGANIC CLUTCH
Increased clamp loads give the necessary capacity to handle modified engines. With organic friction materials use only premium friction materials that are resistant to slippage and burst.
CERAMETALLIC CLUTCH
Cerametallic friction material can handle much more torque and power than the stock type disc assemblies without slipping and fading. These clutches are designed to handle the abuse of high power modified engines. We offer two types of cerametallic discs- normal & reduced thickness.
HYPER SINGLE
The Hyper single clutch is engineered to optimize performance for cars that are moderately modified, but do not require the clutch capacity of a multi-plate clutch. The aluminum cover is stiffer than a stamped cover and therefore allows a higher lever ratio to maintain the pedal efforts at a reasonable level. Hyper clutches include a billet chrome moly steel flywheel.
LIGHTWEIGHT FLYWHEEL
Exedy race flywheels are made from solid one-piece billet chrome moly steel or chrome moly steel forgings. They are specifically designed to reduce weight and inertia for better engine response. The ring gear teeth are milled onto the flywheel unlike an aluminum flywheel where the ring gear is pressed onto the flywheel which has the possibilities of separating from the flywheel and exploding. This is caused by two different expansion coefficients ( aluminum flywheel pressed on steel ring gear.)

For high-powered applications, Exedy offers Dual sprung hub 6 puck ceramettallic disks which will easily support 500+ crank lb/feet of torque. The twin plate clutch developed for motor sport is designed for higher torque, while at the same time featuring a reasonably light touch on the pedal control. The twin plate clutch boasts the substantial torque capacity and sensitive response called for in high-performance sports cars. In addition, for drivers looking for an even higher torque, specialized hard settings are available. Two separate settings allow the driver to select the type that matches his or her individual preference. Basic Info

-The body of the Subaru SSS is placed in the tunnel next to the gearbox.
-The conversion is provided by a series of rods running to the body. One of the rods determines the gear lever position with the other one securing the change of gear.
-The whole mechanism (body, rods etc.) is protected from underneath by the skid plate.
-The SSS consists of a safety lock to avoid shifting into the neutral or reverse gears during shifting into low gears. The neutral and reverse can be only engaged if the safety lock is released.
-The SSS is also equipped with a shifting booster (magnet) which assists in selecting gears faster and easier

Quaife ATB Differential for WRX

The Quaife is great for street driving or racing. Racers don't have to put up with locking mechanisms or spools that tear the steering wheel out of their hands when cornering. Because it behaves like an open differential during ordinary driving, street drivers will have trouble telling it's there until pushing the car's limits. The Quaife has been proven in everything from SCCA Rally to Formula 1. It provides autocrossers with such an advantage, it has become "required" equipment for a winning effort.

In cornering, while accelerating out of a turn, the Quaife biases power to the outside wheel, reducing inside-wheel spin. This allows the driver to begin accelerating earlier, exiting the corner at a higher speed.

The Quaife also controls loss of traction when the front wheels are on slippery surfaces such as ice and snow or mud, providing the appropriate biased traction needed to overcome these adverse conditions. The Quaife Differential provides constant and infinitely variable drive. Power is transferred automatically without the use of normal friction pads or plates seen in other limited-slip designs.

The Quaife's unique design offers maximum traction, improves handling and steering, and puts the power where it is needed most. A definite advantage whether on the track or on the street.

The Quaife is extremely strong and durable and since the Quaife is gear operated, it has no plates or clutches that can wear out and need costly replacement.

Front and rear axle upgrades

for about 600 to 650hp

 


After extensive testing by our drive shaft partner on the inner and outer c.v. housings, they have found they are made from a material very close to 4130 Chrome moly (very good), so the weak links are the boots.

The STi axle upgrade kit includes both axle bars, boots grease and clamps. All you have to do is put your C.v.'s on these shafts and you will be able to handle somewhere in the 600 to 650HP range.

These have been made in limited quantities so if you are in need of an upgrade for your R180, this is the one!

Subaru 04-07 STI

Axle/Hub system for about 1000hp

The rear axle/hub system from our drive shaft partner; this new system is meant for serious HP and will get the job done. The set has been designed for 1000WHP.

The system comes with both axles and hubs. Starting with the inner C.V. it has our billet housings that have a new special material that is actually stronger than 300M for the spline plugs into the diff; the center bar is larger and also made from the same material. The outer C.V. is the same as we use in the Pro FWD cars so you know the set will make sure you're the one to be beat. The new outer hubs with this system have 2 wheel bolt patterns for both 04 and 06/06 applications and we even added the ABS mount for you sick ones that are in need of this system for the street.

The STi front axle system includes both axle bars, boots grease and clamps. All you have to do is put your C.v.'s on these shafts.

This carbon fiber drive shaft allows a 1000 RPM increase in the engine speed and gives the engine a chance to work at its? power peak. Its track tested at well over 800 horsepower. Its a stronger, lighter, direct replacement for your stock aluminum drive shaft. Which are known to twist.

You can achieve rear wheel horsepower gains of more than 5% with the simple switch to this carbon fiber drive shaft. Carbon fiber offers you more strength to resist extreme torque than steel with about half the weight. The STI 6-Speed transmission was designed to handle the additional torque of a the 280HP STI, as well as the potential race modifications that the car may be subjected too.  Conservative at 280HP, many have subjected this transmission to 500 ft/lbs of torque abuse without suffering failures compared to high failure rate of the WRX 5-speed.  Designed  to address the weaknesses of the standard 5-speed, the 6-speed transmission is split transversely, instead of the longitudinal design of the 5spd. This design greatly strengthens the torsional rigidity of the case itself as well as the shafts and gears.   An added oil pump allows for better lubrication of the gears as compared to the "splash" lubrication system of the 5-speed.
