Dear Loyal Customers,

I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued business and support.  I can’t believe how much time has passed since 1998, when we opened our doors in Vermont – years full of excitement and a whole lot of change.  Although I have always loved cars, it wasn’t until my first purchase of a Subaru that I decided to start the company.  There’s just something about these cars!  The money, personal freedom, and creative aspects - although appreciated - have always been secondary - and totally unexpected.  Can you believe I left a successful and lucrative career as a senior executive at an International Boston Leasing and Finance Company to start Xcceleration.com [Vermont Corporation] – a move that thrilled my wife to no end at the time.  If being your own boss is empowering - then being your own boss, doing something that you truly love, is intoxicating.  Many of you have asked, “Why are you always smiling?  Why are you so damn happy?”  Well, now you know.

For those of you who have been with us since the beginning, you will remember that Xcceleration.com was predominantly an internet-based distributor of Subaru performance parts – performance parts for the normally aspirated Impreza – to be more precise.  There was no WRX back then, let alone an STI.  The majority of these parts were bolt-on and most of our customers resided in New England.  Our installations were performed by a now defunct Subaru dealership, as a partnership - a good relationship, although it just felt like something was missing.  However, even with this less-than-perfect setup, all of the products sold by this company were, and still are, specifically made for Subaru.  We have never prescribed to a “one size fits all” philosophy.

The company is much different now.  We have evolved into an international organization, with Strategic Partners - you’d be surprised by just how many international customers we cater to – with our customers coast to coast and beyond.  I cannot tell you how many times I shuttle customers to and from the airport.  All of our installations are performed by our strategic partners [team members]: including Bill Atwood Master Mechanic or Greg Hunt, Master Engine Builder and Engineer.  Although Greg’s credentials rival those of Carroll Shelby and are far too many to list on this “Thank You” note, some of his more notable positions include Chief Engineer for Calloway Turbo’s “Project Sledgehammer Corvette” (Still, the fastest Corvette on the planet.) and head mechanic for Jaguar’s Formula One racing teams.  You just can’t make this stuff up!  However, when it comes to performance parts, these guys are very creative and make-up stuff all the time – engine design, manufacturing, and installation, to name a few.  If a “so-called” bolt-on part doesn’t bolt-on, it’s not a problem - a quick cut here, a crimp there, a little bit of welding – and voila - you’re ready to go.

Although internet sales are still a significant component of our business, internet sales alone have never been what we’re about.  If you’re looking to buy a well known Subaru performance part, on the cheap, you’re probably better off looking elsewhere.  We’re probably too expensive.  However, if you’re looking to get a few more horses out of your stock motor or turn your Subaru into a fire-breathing dragon - and you don’t know how to proceed - or don’t trust the mechanic or the advice from the “self-proclaimed experts” on the internet forums - then you’ve come to the right place.  This is where we add the most value!  My friends often refer to me as an Automotive Performance Consultant.   Separate and apart from our unique strategic alliances, product designs, fabrications, and installations is our advisory expertise.  Not only can’t you simply bolt-on some performance parts and expect them to work, but to do so is actually detrimental to your car.  To make matters worse, the Subaru ECU, although powerful and sophisticated, is notoriously sensitive to crap.  Put something on the car that it doesn’t like and it will revert to “limp-home-mode” faster than you can say, “engine rebuild.”  The majority of my day is spent talking on the telephone to both long-standing and prospective customers – sometimes for hours at a time – truly a 24/7 commitment but something I’m happy to do.

Believe it or not, I intended this “Thank You” note to be brief – a few lines - short and sweet.  Unfortunately, I have too much to say.  It’s been one hell of a journey and Xcceleration.com is truly a success story – a success story that you have made possible.

All the best!

Sam
